Pakistan's food production has progressed substantially in recent decades. Food security is a crucial challenge, owing to the fast expansion of the population, rapid urbanization, low purchasing power, high price volatility, uncertain food supply, and inadequate food delivery networks. According to the 2016 Food Security Assessment Survey (FSA), 18% of Pakistanis are malnourished. According to the National Institute of Population Studies, severe stunting (at 45%), wasting (15%), and being underweight (30%) were all frequent (NIPS). Malnutrition is more prevalent in rural regions (46%) and territories such as FATA (58%) and GB (51%), as well as Baluchistan (52%). Similarly, nearly 50% of adults consume less iron and vitamin A than is recommended.
